Ethan
I was in the room packing my clothes into the suitcase, alright I was just stuffing my clothes into the suitcase. I can't fold all that well and get frustrated so I'm just stuffing all this, I'm carrying an iron anyway so it doesn't matter. I came home about 2 hours earlier then my usual time just so I can get things ready for Bali. I don't even know the name of the Island we're gonna stay at or anything else about it. It's all a surprise for me, Iris wants to keep it all a secret and surprise me. An amazing wife I've got. I unlocked my phone to look at the time, it was 8:30 now, more than two hours had already passed since I came back home from work.
Iris usually reaches home around 9 pm but I wonder when she'll be back since she's working overtime today. I like that about her, she always finishes the work she needs to do and completes all her commitments. I then stuffed the remaining of my clothes needed for this short trip and tried closing the suitcase. I couldn't close it though, the zip wouldn't close, I then retraced the path of the zip and made sure that any of my clothes won't get stuck in the zip now. I closed the suitcase, this time successfully.
I then realised that nothing is made for dinner, I don't know how to cook, I mean I only know a few things, toast,coffee,pasta and anything readymade ofcourse. I'd even told Iris that we could keep a chef but she refused saying that it would be a waste of money since she can cook too. And she actually makes incredible food. I hit my head slightly and started talking to myself aloud "don't go off topic, what about food now?" I then thought that I would just order food from outside today. There's this asian food joint that Iris loves, I should order from there. She'll definitely be happy and it'll be good for her after her long day at work. I then went to the kitchen and opened a drawer, must be here, I thought and glanced at the things in the drawer. I couldn't find it there so I opened the other drawer and began browsing through the contents. I found it! It was the menu of the place and the telephone number was written too. I then ordered an assorted sushi platter. There were 3 types of sushi we could choose from, I ordered the spicy tuna, California roll and the spicy chicken roll. These were her favourites. I also ordered Korean chicken wings, my favourite.
I also ordered soft drinks for us. I then sat on the couch and began browsing through the messages on my phone. As I was going through some messages I got a call from my college friend, Claire.
Claire
I decided to take the day off since I'm gonna be on the flight tomorrow and I don't wanna be too tired. I was so exhausted since I'd worked overtime yesterday, so I was just resting today. I thought that I could have a skincare day today so that I could feel fresh for tomorrow. I just basically spent my day relaxing and then started packing in the evening. After I was done with my packing, I cooked some noodles for myself. I then served the noodles in a bowl and sat on my dining table eating the noodles as I dialled Ethan's number in my phone.
"Hey Ethan!" I said as soon as he picked up the call.
"Hello Claire, how are you" he asked in response.
"I'm fine, how about you? All set for tomorrow"
"Yeah, everything's done and I'm good too" he said cheerfully but sounded tired.
"Long day huh?" I asked with a bit of a chuckle.
"Yeah. yours too?"
"No, I actually took the day off"
"Oh really?" he asked surprised but then added with a small chuckle "I don't even know why I'm surprised after knowing you all these years"
"Yeah, you never learn" I reply chuckling.
"Anyway, just wanted to know the status, like if you're ready for tomorrow and everything"
"Yes, yes I am"
"What about Iris? I wanna talk to her" I asked him to which he replied
"She's working overtime"
"Oh, yeah makes sense since it's Iris we're talking about" I said with a smile and then asked him "how is she anyway?"
"She's amazing" he replied, hearing that I smiled.
"Anyway, I'll meet you guys in the airport tomorrow" "Yeah C, meet you soon" "Meet you soon Eth" I said and cut the call.
Iris
As I was almost done with the last part of the project, I glanced towards the time, it was 10:30 pm. Well not too long compared to the other times I've stayed late working, but there's no one else in the office. Even Carl left about an hour back.
Just as I finished my work I decided to check the flight details. I booked Cacia Pacific from James C. Kelly international airport to Rensadail airport. The name of the Island we're staying at is Cerilyan Island. There are very few people on that Island, especially during this time of the year. After seeing the flight details I decided to leave.
I went to the basement and towards my car.
The feeling of the other day hasn't left. I can still feel it. Something isn't right. Something is going to happen. Something none of us saw coming.
I then sighed, shaking my head as I drove myself to my house and turned on some relaxing music. I was pretty tired after the busy day I had. I parked my car after I reached and then went inside.
I saw Ethan looking towards me with a smile as I entered the hall.
I looked at him confused.
He then revealed that he ordered sushi for me from my favourite joint.
A smile spread across my face and I sat on the couch next to him. I turned towards him, my smile faltering. "I'm sorry but I ate something since I was hungry. I'm really tired and just want to sleep"
He smiled and nodded as he replied "It's alright, just rest"
I smiled, "Thanks. I'll go to sleep now. You should too, we have the flight tomorrow" Ethan just nodded in agreement.
We then went into our room and I thanked god that I'd already packed everything, or it would've been a headache to pack everything now. I laid myself on my bed and fell asleep almost instantly after my tiresome day.
