Sophia

I was sleeping peacefully when the sound of my loud ass alarm woke me up. I checked the time, 7 am. Would 5 more minutes be bad? OK no Sophia, you have work today, you can't be late, you can't procrastinate. But just a minute won't matter, right? No no you can't do that, it starts from a minute, but is NEVER just a minute. Just wake up now!

I quickly went to the washroom and washed my face. I sighed, now it's fine. Once I've washed my face it's all better, I won't sleep again. I then freshened up and got ready.

I felt some sort of amazing aroma hit my nose. I walked in the direction of the scent and it led me to the kitchen. There I saw Liam making pancakes. "Smells delicious" I said with a bright smile while wrapping my arms around him as he cooked, to which he replied "Good Morning and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" I wished him back. I don't have as much energy in the morning but it should buzz through in sometime.

"So gifting me on the first day of the new year?" I asked him, my voice low but cheerful.

 "Ofcourse, if the start of the year is good, the entire year will be great" He replied while smiling. I smiled back at him and thanked him.

After a while, I was seated on the dining table and Liam brought me a plate of blueberry pancakes, my favourite, sitting in front of me with the same on his plate. We talked while eating the pancakes and discussed the small trip Iris had called us to for her and Ethan's anniversary.

"So I was thinking we could go shopping after work today?" He asked me to which I replied "Yeah, sounds good. So 8:00?"

He nodded as he said "I'll pick you up from your work and then we'll go together"

We planned to go shopping for gifts for them, and sweets for the rest. We also thought that we could get a pair of something new, probably matching for the main celebration. We soon finished our breakfast and left for our office together. We decided to go together today since we'll go shopping later, so Liam drove me to my office and then left for his.

Almost 8 pm

Liam

I was done for the day and looked at the time, it's 7:55, I sent a message to Soph asking her if she was done for the day and was just gonna leave the office when I got a call.

It's Ethan? But why? This is kind of random. I mean he's welcome to but he usually calls only on weekends.

I picked up his call but before he could say anything, I did.

"Hey Athena" I teased him with the nickname I'd given him years ago. Simply because it sounded similar to his name and he hated it. Isn't that reason enough?

"Liam, I've told you like a million times that I don't like that nickname" he practically bursted my eardrums through the phone.

"Geez, stop shouting" I whisper shouted

"And anyway I've told you a billion times that, that's exactly what I'll call you" I just knew that he rolled his eyes at that

"Don't roll your eyes at me" I was sure that he was checking the screen of his phone and looking around right now.

Before he could say anything else I did "Neither is this a video call, nor am I there in your office" I could practically read his current thoughts.

"Don't forget we've been best friends pretty much since we were in diapers so I know you pretty well" I then heard him chuckle followed by a "Ofcourse"

I then asked him "So what do you want, why did you call me?"

"Ouch, don't want to talk to me?" He replied

"Cut with the act, you never call me for no reason on weekdays"

He chuckled "You caught me"

He then added "So I'm here in this jewellery shop and I wanna get something for Iris as an anniversary gift, but I don't know what should I get" as he said that I got out of office building and sat in my car

"So what? You want advice on what to buy?" I asked to which he replied almost instantly "yes"

"So what does she like in jewellery" I ask to which I don't get a reply back

"Hello?"

"Yes yes I'm here, I just can't quite tell you one, cause she wears them all, necklaces, bracelets, earings"

I then face palmed myself "Of Course she does dude, but what does she like the most?"

"What do you think?" He asks

Is this guy for real? "You're the husband dude, not me. You're seriously asking me this? Don't you know what your own wife likes?"

He then replies "It's not that, it's just that I want it to be special"

I reply "We all know Iris, she doesn't like anything too fancy, she likes it simple, so just get her something like that, a heart necklace maybe? Look at the options and decide"

"Hmm alright"

"Well alright I gotta go now, meeting sophia" He chuckled slightly "Yeah ofcourse"

Sophia

I just completed the session of my new client, she was in her early 20s.

Well since I'm a psychologist I help people in the typical stuff psychologists do. Analysing the behaviour of my clients to provide them with therapy and recommend a psychiatrist if needed.

I have my own clinic, which I opened a few months ago and it's doing pretty well.

I checked the time on my laptop and it was 8 pm right now, I then closed my laptop, went near the sink and splashed my face with water after the tiring day I just had. I then came out and sat in my chair, and checked my phone for any messages from Liam. I then saw a text from him, just as expected

Liam: Are you done with work? 7:55

Me: Yeah, just finished               8:00

Liam: Reaching soon                  8:05

Me: ok waiting                             8:05

I checked for any other messages and saw a message from Iris

Iris: Hey Soph, how are you? 8:05

Me: I'm alright, and you?        8:05

Iris: I'm good...just missing you 8:05

Me: Missing you too darling.          8:06

Me: Weird right, we haven't met in a while even though we live in the same city  8:06

Iris: True                                                   8:07

Iris: Well at least we'll meet soon.        8:07

Me: Yess excited, can't believe it's gonna be 5 years.                                                8:08

Iris: I know right?                                  8:09

Iris: Anyway, I'll talk to you later, just got off Work                                                   8:10

Me: yeah same :)                                    8:10

I could feel something was wrong through the screen. She hasn't been the same since that incident happened all those years back. Not like her life was the best even before that. But, I don't know. Call it telepathy or my gut, but I just know that something is wrong with her.

She can fool everyone else, but not me. She puts up this false pretence in front of our friends, but I can tell when she's being real. I haven't called her out on it because I know that her way of coping is different. 6 years have passed but I don't blame her. It's still too less for what she's been through.

A call on my office phone brought me back to the present. I shook my head and walked towards my cabin to pick up the call. It was my receptionist telling me that someone had asked for me. I was confused as I had no more appointments.

I soon heard a knock on the door and all my confusion vanished as soon as I saw the face of the person who came in, it was Liam."Let's go?" He asked and I nodded.

We then went to a mall near our home for shopping. We first went to a watch store as we decided to get them couple watches, since they love watches. We then chose a beautiful blue designed set, which matched their vibe, we got it packed and left the store. We then went to a place to get sweets for everyone. After we were done with that, we then bought a new pair of clothes for each of us, took a long time. We both chose yellow, so we would match now, yay! We decided to eat dinner at the mall and by the time we reached home it was almost 11 pm. We were so tired from our long day of work and then shopping too. I didn't even realise when I dozed off on our couch, only realising it when I felt myself being carried to the room.
